Event Details
DJ FLO FADER, also known as Roscoe Price Floyd, was born in Savannah, GA on October 21, 1976. He grew up in Northeast NJ and NY. Roscoe’s stepfather, Emanuel Lois Turner, who played lead guitar in a funk band called Electrified Funk, greatly influenced his musical taste.
When Flo Fader was fifteen in 1992, he moved to Atlanta, GA, where his friend DJ KLEVER (Josh Winkler) introduced him to the art of turntablism. A year later, he returned to New Jersey and transformed his identity into Flo Fader. With a robust Hip Hop background, he absorbed influences from notable DJs like Mr. Sinista, Roc Raida, Grandmaster Flash, Chuck Chillout, Marley Marl, and Q-Bert, learning from their scratching techniques, mixing skills, music choices, and stage presence.
In 1998, Flo Fader moved to the Bronx, NY, and began working for Seven Heads Ent. as the Head of College Radio Promotion. During this time, he crossed paths with J-live and DP-one, J-live’s DJ. DP-one eventually invited Flo Fader to join as J-live’s tour DJ, which he gladly accepted. After several years, Flo Fader returned to the DJ scene in Manhattan.
Punchline from the group Punch n Words approached Flo Fader about touring as EMC’s DJ. Soon after, Masta Ace, a member of EMC, offered Flo Fader the opportunity to tour as his personal DJ. This allowed Flo Fader to travel the world with artists like J-live, EMC, and Masta Ace, performing in various countries including Croatia, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Iceland, Portugal, France, Holland, the UAE, and Africa.
Currently, Flo Fader resides in Albuquerque, NM, where he DJs at places like Tractor Brewery, Marble Brewing, Thirsty Eye, and Red Door. Additionally, he works as a student advisor at the Bosque Private School, sharing his knowledge and experience with young learners.
